Although the Durban group was on stage for a shorter than anticipated period, it sent the more than 1 000 crowd wild with its popular hits.

The track which carried the night was Umlilo, the song that gave them fame in 2009, while others such as Sting Ray, Ntombenhle, Serious, Newlands West and Hawaii were well received.

Revellers patiently waited in an open space at Pagomba until around 1am when Big Nuz came on stage where they performed for close to two hours before leaving as they were set to stage another show in Durban last night. Pagomba manager Lovemore Chonzi said the show was the best ever and he thanked the people of Beitbridge for supporting their project.

Chonzi said the show was payback to the people of the border town who paid for a show in April only for Big Nuz not to pitch up.

The gate charges were pegged at $10 per head and Chonzi said 1 250 people attended the show.

“It was a good show; one of the best ever. The attendance depicts that the show was a success considering that the same artists failed to show up in April as they were booked elsewhere.

“I would like to thank the crowd for believing in us. It gives us the energy to bring more artistes within and outside the borders in the near future. We want to bring international artistes as well,” Chonzi said.

Big Nuz had sold their Beitbridge fans a dummy in April after failing to show up for a roundly advertised show set for the same venue.
