Daniel Chakupe’s second half goal cancelled Mkhokheli Dube’s first half header to ensure a share of the spoils.

Shabanie head coach John Phiri bemoaned lack of adequate preparations for the uncharacteristically subdued showing by his charges.

“It was always going to be a tough match because we did not train in the build-up to this game. But I am happy with the performance of the boys especially in the last 15 minutes of the game,” Phiri said.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was satisfied with a draw though he felt his charges deserved to win the game.

“It was a fair result. We wasted a couple of chances and we could have won the game, but Shabanie were the better team in the last 30 minutes and they are a difficult team to beat at their home,” Antipas said.

The home team was the first to create a meaningful chance after 15 minutes of play when Chakupe broke loose on the left, but his goal-bound effort was well intercepted by Moses Jackson.

Five minutes later Chicken Inn goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze proved that he deserved top billing when he ably got to the end of a Douglas Sibanda free-kick.

Two minutes latter Maglas was silenced when Dube got to the end of a Passmore Bernard cross and headed beyond the reach of London Zulu in goal for the hosts.

Three minutes before the breather Dube could have doubled his tally when he turned Smart Muchabaiwa inside out, but his effort was off target.

In the 58th minute, Dube turned well in the box, but his execution was again not good enough.

With 12 minutes remaining on the clock, Chakupe turned saviour when he turned well outside the box to send a powerful shot that beat Chipezeze.
