Each province is expected to provide 20 boxers (10 boys and 10 girls) for the games with Bulawayo hopeful of defending their title after grabbing gold in last year’s games that were held in the City of Kings and Queens.

Baba vice-chairman Ezwell Ndlovu confirmed the tournament would be held at the traditional venue, Manor Hotel.

“We are holding the last tournament where we will be selecting the final team for the Zimbabwe National Youth Games. We have the team, but what is left is for the boxers to be slotted into their divisions. We are hoping that we will defend our title in Masvingo. Our team is stronger this year than it was last year. As a province, this is our seventh tournament this year and no other province has done like we have been doing,” Ndlovu said.

Some of the female boxers that have already made the team and will be taking part in the competition tomorrow are Quineth Dube, Thenjiwe Foloma, Princess Msipa, Nyasha Gumbwe and Shyleen Mguni.

Stephen Ndlovu, Likhwa Masuku, Samson Masiyambumbi, Shepard Machaya, Emmanuel Katsuwere, Bright Ndiraya, Cecil Toto, Andile Ncube and Denzel Mpofu are the selected boys.

Ndlovu said they had extended their invitation to Matabeleland North and South as well as the Midlands.
