Being a Zimbabwean-born musician, her kind of music is an original mix of indigenous African sounds and contemporary urban styles with a strong Afro-soul feel and it projects evident inspirations from the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Tracy Chapman and India Arie, among others.

Tariro started playing the guitar at the age of 13. She played regularly at church as well as school until she met Edith WeUtonga during a Sistaz Open Mic at the Book Café, Harare. She became a guitarist for Edith’s band and her experience grew while with the band.

It was during that time that she also started playing for other artists like Diana Samkange and Cathy Mhlanga.

Tariro has shared the stage with Zimbabwean artists such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Stella Chiweshe and Victor Kunonga. She has warmed up the stage for South African a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the Spring Strings Festival.

She has also staged collaborations with artists from abroad like Noisettes from the United Kingdom and the German bands Favo and Jamaram, and has toured Germany for three months with the latter.

In 2013 she collaborated with South African artists Zahara and Simphiwe Dana. Tariro welcomed 2014 by opening the stage for legendary Bryan Adams.

Her appearance at the Spring Jazz Show will add value to the growing show. Tariro comes to Intwasa courtesy of Pamberi Trust and African Synergies.
