THE late Vice-President John Landa Nkomo’s chief security officer and former Zipra commander Eddie Sigoge (66) will know his fate on Friday when a judgment in his attempted murder case would be handed down in Hwange. RICHARD MUPONDE SENIOR COURT REPORTER
The judgment should have been handed down on February 7, but he did not attend court prompting Hwange regional magistrate for the Western Division, Dambudzo Malunga, issuing a warrant of arrest for him.
The warrant was, however, cancelled after the court established that he was admitted at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo where he was undergoing a hip operation.
Sigoge’s lawyer Tanaka Muganyi yesterday confirmed that his client would get his judgment on Friday.
“It has been scheduled for the 8th of August at the Hwange Regional Court. We will be travelling there for the court proceedings,” he said.
Sigoge allegedly shot and wounded one person in a farm dispute in the Gwayi Conservancy five years ago.
The dispute was between Nkomo and Langton Masunda.
Sigoge, a retired army colonel from Lobengula West in Bulawayo, was accused of shooting Patrick, the brother of Langton, and firing shots at a vehicle with seven other occupants ferrying the injured Patrick to hospital.
