SHARON SIBINDI Own Correspondent The festival is slated for September 23 to 27, embracing and celebrating different cultures found in the country and outside Zimbabwe.

The festival will be running under the theme unforgettable which is set to bring in at least seven categories that will take part during the festival.

In an interview with the Southern Eye Lifestyle, Intwasa director Raisedon Baya said preparations for the arts jamboree had gathered momentum and several groups will take part.

The groups have been put into seven different categories. The categories include dance, music, theatre, poetry, literature, stand-up comedy and visual arts.

He said they were working on a few loose ends, but the ball was ready to roll. “We have some new faces almost in every category. In dance, we have got eight groups that will perform and four groups are newcomers,” Baya said.

“In music, we have 18 groups and six groups are new comers. In poetry we have 16 individuals and six joined.

“In the stand-up comedy, we have five comedians and all of them are new. In literature so far we have Pathisa Nyathi. In theatre we have four professional plays and they are all new shows. We have visual arts and this one is a competition.”

Baya said there was still room for those who want to take part in the festival.

Intwasa Festival is a platform for different voices and aims to bring about and globalise all races in the same theatre KoBulawayo.

The artistes will showcase their talents and voices in different ways. The festival encourages the public to engage with the art and the artistes.
