The FC Platinum goalkeeper will be a free agent at the end of the season, if he does not sign a new contract that has been tabled before him by the platinum miners.

Pure Platinum Play media liaison officer Chido Chizondo said they hoped to tie the glove man to a new contract. “We have already offered him a new contract so that he will be part of us beyond this season. But he is yet to agree the terms we have offered,” she said.

Platinum are now under Norman Mapeza, who would want to have his own team next season to challenge for honours, having already bagged the ZNA Charity Shield on Saturday.

The departure of Dynamos regular number one George Chigova for SuperSport United this season has left promising goalie Artwell Mukandi without any serious competition and the arrival of Mhari will no doubt strengthen that department.

The Harare giants’ manager Richard Chihoro, however, declined they were tracking the services of the talented players.

“It is not true at all. At the moment we are not chasing anyone. We are happy with what we have,” Chihoro said.

Though the manager refuted the chase for Mhari and Chinyengetere impeccable sources at the club confirmed to the contrary.

“We have talked to both players and they have agreed to join us at the end of the year. But we are now waiting for management to make the deals official,” a source who preferred anonymity said.

Chinyengetere is one of the best players at Hwange and returned to action this year after a horrific injury almost 18 months ago, ironically against Mukandi, who was then at Monomotapa and could now be teammate by January 2015. Hwange are fifth on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table and have already lost defender Eric Chipeta to Chippa United in South Africa.

The coal miners have done some business with Dynamos in the past, selling midfielder Farai Vimisayi, but are sworn enemies on the field of play since the Harare side officials manhandled their coaches at Rufaro Stadium two seasons ago.

The champions want to add the two to their squad for next year’s African Champions League if they qualify as Kalisto Pasuwa looks to finally make the group stages, having failed to do so, let alone win even a single match away from home, in three years.

They have already brought in the colourful Fabrice Mbimba from the Democratic Republic of Congo while Masimba Mambare is expected to fully recover from a knee injury towards the end of the season in readiness for next year.
