Munyaradzi Mandizvidza (22) and Ernest Sandi, whose age was not stated, appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Peter Madiba facing car theft charges. They were remanded in custody to September 22.

The State alleged that on the night of July 26, Mandizvidza and Sandi, who are popular touts at the Mandava bus terminus, went to Kennedy Zvinowanda’s residency and broke into the garage where he had parked his Mazda vehicle.

The two allegedly used an unknown object to open the doors of the car before pushing it outside Zvinowanda’s yard. The touts confessed that they pushed the car for about 1km before trying to start it using mechanical tricks since they had no key, but their plan failed.

They then decided to strip the car of its wheels and movable car parts leaving it by the roadside.

On September 8, police detectives on patrol in Mandava high-density suburb came across Jeffrey Gava in possession of two black rims at Galijo Garage.

They interrogated Gava and he informed them that he had bought them from Sandi and Mandizvidza ,leading to their arrest.
