Sibonginkosi Dube of Matiye village under Chief Bunina was said to have treated Nothando Bhebhe of constant headaches.

Dube, who is a prophet in the Covenant Church, was informed that Bhebhe had consulted a traditional healer Dumisani Banda over the same issue and confronted her.

He allegedly threatened to ‘bomb’ her within two days and went on to scoop the soil that bore Banda’s footprints for use in the “bombing”.

Chipo Matshe, for the State, told the court that sometime in March, Bhebhe developed severe headaches and consulted Dube, who gave her herbs. Bhebhe recovered, but developed similar headaches again in July and consulted Banda.

Dube was livid when he heard that Bhebhe had consulted another healer and demanded that she return his herbs so he could refund her $30 that he had charged her.

He allegedly went on to threaten Bhebhe telling her that a bomb would explode in her body within two days, before he went and scooped soil where there were Banda’s footprints.

Dube allegedly told Bhebhe that the soil he had collected would be used in the explosion. The matter was reported to the police and Dube was arrested. Magistrate Vimbai Makora remanded the case to October 2 for continuation of trial.
