THE Highlanders board of directors will get a briefing from the club’s executive committee on Wednesday evening on the developments surrounding embattled coach Kelvin Kaindu amid reports the Zambian gaffer has agreed to an $18 000 severance package after quitting the club last week. FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER Kaindu, who signed a two-year contract with Bosso at the beginning of the year, left the country on Saturday for Zambia with sources close to the coach saying he would be returning to Bulawayo next week to wind up business.
Board secretary Jimmy Ncube yesterday told Southern Eye Sport they would be getting a briefing from the club’s executive on Wednesday on the goings-on surrounding Kaindu.
“We are meeting on Wednesday to hear if there are any developments. We are meeting as the board and the executive committee.
“Remember he (Kaindu) is an employee of the executive. What we were only told as a board is that he indicated verbally that he was quitting, but we did not hear of a written resignation. If there any developments, we will hear on Wednesday,” Ncube said.
The Highlanders executive committee has not come out clearly on Kaindu, who reportedly bid farewell to his players after the 1-3 loss to ZPC Kariba on September 28 at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds which dented Highlanders’ title hopes.
On September 29, at a meeting between the executive and the technical team, the Zambian gaffer reportedly indicated his willingness to quit the club after the Sunday match which ended violently with Highlanders fans throwing missiles onto the pitch.
However, Kaindu and chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede remained adamant that the Zambian mentor was still the Highlanders coach throughout last week.
Club chairman Peter Dube yesterday referred all questions regarding Kaindu’s status to Gumede.

“Have you talked to Gumede? He has all the information regarding Kaindu,” Dube said.
Gumede’s mobile phones were not reachable for the better part of the day.
After the home defeat by ZPC Kariba, Kaindu has not attended training. Assistant Mark Mathe in charge of the sessions at St Columba’s High School and in Fairbridge.
Mathe would probably take charge of Bosso in the last six matches against Caps United, Chicken Inn, Hwange and Shabanie Mine away and the home matches against Chiredzi and Chapungu.
