Technosphere are now on 39 points from 20 matches at par with police side Black Boots who were due to take on Trumus away from home in Victoria Falls yesterday.

Black Boots who would have played their 21st match against the Victoria Falls-based Trumus only have five more matches before the end of the season.

Technosphere have scored 30 goals and conceded nine while Black Boots, who have leading scorer Simon Njeleza on eight goals, had before yesterday’s match banged in 29 and let in 14.

It was goals galore on Saturday as Tsholotsho FC displaced Ntabazinduna after thumping Old Nic Mine 3-0 at home.

Tsholotsho are now on 39 points from 20 matches with 26 goals and have conceded nine.

Ntabazinduna’s goal tally is 23 and they have conceded 15.

New West City, who have struggling of late in the league pummelled Mpumalanga 3-0 at Raylton Sports Club on Saturday, but they are not in the picture in the race.

ZPC Hwange faltered on Saturday after falling 1-2 to town neighbours Hwange Juniors to remain on 35 points from 21 matches while Hwange Juniors are now on 32 points from 20 games.

Elephants FC beat Quelaton 2-1 at the National University of Science and Technology on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Zifa Southern Region got another $2 000 sponsorship package which was unveiled at the Zifa offices on Friday evening.

The sponsorship is courtesy of Machache Meats, who will this year sponsor a stars awards in the league instead of the 16-team tournament that they bankrolled last year.

The league will this year come up with soccer stars calendar which will feature 11 players who would have excelled in the season with top player getting $300, the first runner-up $150 and the second runner-up $100.

The other eight players voted for by the clubs will walk away with $50 each while the top goalscorer will win $300 and the coach of the year will pocket $250.

The ceremony was attended by Zifa vice-president Omega Sibanda, Zifa Southern Region chairman Musa Mandaza, Zifa Bulawayo Province chairman Washington Chimhanda-Sithole and other officials.

Speaking at the launch of the sponsorship, Rosemary Machache, the sponsor apologised for being unable to bankroll this year’s tournament attributing the failure to the harsh economic climate affecting business.

“May I start by offering my apology for not having been able to sponsor Machache Meats Tournament for 2014. It has been a tough year. I would to thank the Zifa executive for accepting this donation,” Machache, who was accompanied by husband Lodias, said.

Last week, a $12 000 16-team sponsorship to be bankrolled by LG Foods was launched at Raylton.

The tournament will feature eight clubs from Division One, three from the Bulawayo Province Division Two, three from Division Three and two from the Matabeleland North Division Two.
