Mucharira is currently undergoing training at ZimPraise and the choir leaders say she has made her mark.

She was roped into the main ZimPraise choir when she featured in one of their songs in the seventh DVD recording titled Revelation – It’s still all about Jesus at Glamis Arena, in July.

Mucharira was given a lead song UJesu wami Uyaphila to perform in front of more than 10 000 gospel fanatics.

ZimPraise’s public relations officer Tendai Zhou told Southern Eye Lifestyle that Mucharira was still undergoing training at the ZimPraise Academy.

He said trainees were taught music, vocal training and team building.

“Mucharira is still in the process of being accepted, she has shown commitment and a willingness to learn,” Zhou said.

“From the Bulawayo participants she stands out. She is confident, sociable and comes from a strong spiritual background.”

He said Mucharira had done exceptionally well and had been given the lead role at the July concert.

“When she sang that song she exuded vocal finesse,” Zhou said.

However, the 24-year-old singer said she was not content with just being in the gospel choir, but dreams of empowering gospel musicians from Bulawayo.

“I do not see myself in ZimPraise for a long time,” she said. “I desire to lift the banner in Bulawayo and to raise young gospel musicians and teach them about true worship.

“I have learnt a lot from the time I started out at the academy.

“I have learnt new skills and learnt to co-oporate with others in a professional manner.

“Every single person at ZimPraise is a great singer, I was humbled by that,” Mucharira added.

“I am happy that I am part of ZimPraise, to me it is confirmation of a prophecy that I am not just a musician and my gift will take me to the nations.

“I believe this is the first step of what God will do in my life.”
