ZIMBABWE Football Association (Zifa) technical director Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe yesterday took a swipe at Bulawayo coaches saying they do not participate in courses that are organised within the province, but are quick to cry foul when mentors from outside the province are appointed for national duty.

Jongwe was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Caf B Licence coaching course that is underway at YWCA, Lobengula Street.

“There is always an outcry that all courses are conducted at the capital city. But I am disappointed because we are in Bulawayo. The course is subscribed if not fully subscribed because by Caf standards a class constitutes 20 coaches. We have 26 coaches. Of the 26 coaches, only four come from Bulawayo.

“When seeding or placements of national coaches are done, there is hell in the media about the under-representation from the Southern Region. Why is it that we do not have so many coaches? To tell you the truth this is an indicator how the pyramid goes up and excludes respective regions,” Jongwe said.

“The show changes when you leave the programme. It is not about the paper, but it should be about what you get. I am very disappointed with Bulawayo.

Bulawayo where are you? I saw so many people from Harare, Masvingo and other places. Where are you? Do you mean to say Bulawayo does not have coaches? Who is coaching all these teams? Please let’s wake up because we will always cry and say everything is done in Harare and here is the course, but where are you?”
