Local organising committee (LOC)managing director Kennedy Ndebele confirmed the draw.

“The draw will be held next Friday October 24 at a local hotel. We are expecting chef de missions of the different countries participating to be available for it. It will be live on ZTV,” Ndebele said.

He said this would be major event for the city.

“It is expected to bring excitement to the city of Bulawayo. It will be an opportunity to check the country’s state of preparedness. After the draw, the countdown continues as well as preparations for the games,” he said.

The LOC are also expecting members from the regional organising committee, representatives from participating countries and senior government.

Ndebele could not say who would be conducting the draw as they were still finalising the event which he said is one of the biggest events towards the hosting of the games.

Initially 15 countries were meant to take part in the games, but 10 confirmed participation and these are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, the Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia with Zimbabwe being the 11th nation.

Athletes will compete in eight sports code — athletics, boxing, basketball, football, judo, swimming, netball and tennis.
