The meeting, which will be held at the school hall, is open to all people and will be led by pastors from various churches.

SDA chairperson Thulani Ncube said the prayer was necessitated by a realisation that children focused on academics and sport only at school, while neglecting their spiritual needs, which then affected personal development.

“A person can leave school with good grades, but if they are not guided by God, they can still lose direction and struggle in life,” he said.

“We want to ensure that students follow a solid path while they are still in school which could aid their academic performance.”

Ncube explained his belief that such prayer meetings would assist reduce the disintegration of social fabric.

“The meeting starts at 8pm till 5am on Saturday and we have organised the school bus to ferry people from City hall at 7.45pm on Friday and return them the next morning,” he explained.
