JOHANNESBURG — Madison Shoes has terminated Nonhle Thema’s contract with the fashion brand after the controversial personality was overheard saying some derogatory terms while on a trip to Botswana.
Allforwomen.co.za reported that according to The Sowetan, partygoers from the neighbouring country weren’t overly impressed with Nonhle, who sources have said was nasty and had diva tendencies.
Insiders also claim that they were staggered when they overheard Nonhle speaking on the phone and telling someone that the young women in Botswana are all “skinny, ugly and infected with Aids”.
The shoe company released a statement saying they were parting ways with Nonhle.
“Due to the alleged circumstances of this trip and its repercussions, we regret to announce Nonhle Thema is no longer the brand ambassador for Madison, The Heart of New York shoes,” reads part of the report.
“Madison shoes will be donating R10 000 towards Aids awareness in Botswana and will work alongside the OPTIONS brand which stocks Madison shoes in Botswana to raise money and awareness in regards to Aids related illnesses.”
