Saywhat is a civic organisation which ensures students participation in information sharing, support provision, networking and advocacy to promote sexual reproductive health and rights in institutions.

Speaking to Southern Eye, Saywhat representative Nkosilomusa Ngwenya said the campaign was meant to eliminate gender-based violence in Gwanda.

“This will be a 16 days activism campaign on gender-based violence, where there will be demonstrations on how to eliminate gender-based violence within the student communities,” he said.

“The campaign is meant to raise awareness on how to fight gender-based violence and will also include the human rights day.”

Ngwenya said they had realised that the people of Gwanda required advice on how to eliminate gender-based violence and also fight for their human rights.

“We conducted campaigns in Bulawayo and our message was not taken into consideration,” he said.

“We realised that we have to teach the students and the society in Gwanda to create an anti-gender-based violence society.”

Ngwenya said various stakeholders from different institutions would address the community on how to eliminate gender-based violence.

“There will be representatives from the Zimbabwe Republic Police and other relevant stakeholders, where students will be equipped with knowledge on gender-based violence especially about its forms,” he said.

Ngwenya said students would share their experiences on how gender-based violence had affected them.
