Hippo Valley (men) have won two matches, drew one and lost one out of four matches played since the tournament started on Saturday.

The Lowveld side is sitting on position four in the seven-team log table after beating Police Machines of Nigeria 9-2 and fellow Zimbabweans Eradicators 5-2 and drawing 3-3 with Trustees of Ghana.Zim-hockey

They have seven points after scoring 18 goals and conceding 19.

However, Eradicators have found the going tough after they lost all their four opening matches.

Eradicators lost to Egypt Police 0-8 before being thumped by Sharkia of Egypt 0-9 and Trustees 6- 1. The Harare team are second from the bottom of the log table above Genetrix of Malawi who have also lost all their three matches. Sharkia, favourites to win the tournament in men’s category, have played four matches, won three and drew one.

They beat Hippo Valley, Eradicators 9-0 and Genetrix 17-0 and played a 1-1 draw with compatriots Egypt Police.

Sharkia have 10 points and Egypt Police are second.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe women’s team, BAC, is on position three in Pool A after playing three matches, winning one, losing the other and registering a draw.hockey

BAC beat Twende of Tanzania 10-0 before losing to Orange of Kenya. They drew 3-3 with Heartlands of Nigeria. Orange are on top in Pool A after winning all their three matches and have nine points.

In Pool B, GRA from Ghana rule the roost with two wins after beating Gentrix 16-0 and Sharkia 4-1. Strathmore of Kenya have also won two matches in the women’s Pool B beating Genetrix 12-0 and Sharkia 5-0.
