Speaking to the Southern Eye Lifestyle, the organiser of the event Walter Ncube, aka DJ Sweeto, said the pageant that started in 2005, had stopped due to some disturbances.

He said this weekend’s pageant is running under Events Techniques and is aimed at promoting the culture of kasi modelling that had faded away.

“We want to bring back kasi trend as 15 pageants will be showing off their talent through modelling. The pageants will model wearing kasi style, funky wear, swimwear and lastly nightwear. The registration fee is only $5 and we only want girls from Nkulumane suburb who are 18 years and above,” Ncube said.

“We going to bring back lots of fun stuff like carwash done by ladies in their bum shorts, lots of braai and yes that’s how kasi rocks. We want to send a message to others out there and tell them we are back and this time it will be more interesting,” he said.

The show is set for 3pm and all the participants’ hair would be done for free by Flamingo Hair and Beauty Salon at the Rainbow Hotel.

Miss Nkulumane will walk away with R600, the first princess R450 and the second princess R300 plus some hampers.

“Later after crowning Miss Nkulumane, we will have an after party and some kasi DJs will battle for the best Loxion Culture DJ and this is how we will end the year 2014,” Ncube added.
