A MAN of no fixed abode has been convicted on 28 counts of unlawful entry into seven Bulawayo city centre shops and stealing property worth more than $16 500.

Tinashe Zhou (28) pleaded guilty to 28 counts of both unlawful entry and theft when he appeared before Bulawayo Senior magistrate Sibongile Msipa on Monday.

He denied two counts.

The magistrate convicted him of the 28 counts and remanded him in custody to today for sentencing and further remand on the two counts he denied.

The court heard that on August 9 this year Zhou broke into Medical Chambers Centre at the Bulawayo Centre Complex and stole property worth $749.

On August 13 Zhou also broke into Toppers Shop at corner 9th Avenue and Fife Street and he stole property worth $1 170 and only property worth $80 was recovered.

It is the State case that on August 23 Zhou broke into Edgars Store at corner Jason Moyo and 9th Avenue and stole goods worth $6 805.

Only goods worth $554 were recovered.

Zhou allegedly broke into Trends Boutique on Jason Moyo Avenue on August 23 and stole some goods.

On October 4 Zhou allegedly broke into Medical Chambers again and stole goods worth $830.

Goods worth $710 were recovered.

On October 6 he broke into Edgars Store.

Zhou again broke into Toppers shop and stole goods worth $1 637, with goods worth $1 000 recovered.

It is the state case that Zhou also broke into QV Pharmacy and stole goods worth $70 which were not recovered.

On October 22 he allegedly broke into Elite 400 Cinema on Robert Mugabe Way and 10th Avenue and stole goods worth $400, goods only worth $150 were recovered.

On October 29 Zhou allegedly broke into Medical Chambers again and stole property worth $700 and only $265 worth of goods were recovered.

On November 1 Zhou allegedly broke into QV shop.

On November 2 he broke into Elite 400 again and stole goods worth $350 goods only worth $320 were recovered.

On November 14 he allegedly got into Medical Chambers again and stole goods worth $1 530.

He broke into Meat -Meat Butchery on November 15 and stole goods worth $250.

He broke into 400 Elite Cinema on November 26.

The total goods stole worth $16 518 and only property worth $4 279 was recovered.
