The former Hwange and Dynamos striker is set to fly out to Pretoria this afternoon for a two-week trial stint with an aim to impress and possibly join the Students in next month’s transfer window.

Harare City said they were approached by Wits representatives, a company called Impact Capital Alliance.

Club secretary Mathew Marara confirmed: “We have been approached by Impact Capital Alliance who are the representatives of Bidvest Wits University. They have written to us after watching videos of the player. They said they were happy with him and would like to have a look at him in real match situation. He will be there for two weeks from December 6,” Marara said.

Zekumbawira joined City late in the campaign after recovering from an injury, but still managed to score six goals, just six shot of joint scorers Charles Sibanda and Kuda Musharu.

It was his goals behind Harare City’s late revival which saw them escaping relegation and qualifying for the Chibuku Super finals where they lost to FC Platinum in a hotly disputed match.

Harare City eventually finished on 11th position on the league table after defeating Chicken Inn 1-0 on the final day of the league programme.

Bidvest Wits are currently doing well in the league, at position four after 12 matches, and are one of the teams on the title chase.

Should Zekumbawira make the grade, he will join up with fellow countryman Onismor Bhasera who is on the books of the club while Denver Mukamba is also expected to return to the club at the end of the season when his loan deal expires at fellow Absa PSL side SuperSport United.
