Mduduzi Sibanda (41), popularly known as Samukeliso Sithole, reportedly had a conflict with his brother Kelvin Sibanda, popularly known as Dawu at around 9pm in the evening over a wardrobe inherited from their late parents.

“When Mduduzi came home in the evening he found Dawu moving the wardrobe to his room and that is when the conflict started,” Desire Tshuma, a witness said. “They went outside and that is when Sibanda stabbed his brother with a sharp object in the chest and he started bleeding.”

Tshuma said Dawu’s wife told the neighbours, who then rushed Mduduzi to Mpilo Central Hospital, but he died before he could be admitted.

Neighbours said they were shocked as they knew Sithole as a woman, but the report from the doctor highlighted that he was a man.

“We all knew Sithole as a woman and he was even playing netball,” said the neighbours.

“We were really shocked when we heard that the doctor revealed that he had a male organ.”

Tshuma said Dawu ran away after committing the crime and hid in nearby bushes.

“When the police arrived, Dawu had already fled from the scene and some people say he is in hiding in the Sizinda bushes near the railway tracks,” Tshuma said.

“Dawu called his wife yesterday morning and the wife was told by the police to beg her husband to go to the police station so that they could negotiate as they feared that he might commit suicide.”

Bulawayo police spokesperson Mandlenkosi Moyo said he had not yet received information about the murder.
