The competition will feature four teams, champions Matabeleland Busters, Western Panthers, Old Miltonians and Bulldogs, who will play in a round-robin format.

The tournament will stretch to January 24 when the two top teams will play in the final and the other two-fight for the third place.

Sean Robinson, the MRFB vice-chairman has confirmed the tournament.

Busters will take on Old Miltonians while Panthers will lock horns with Bulldogs.

“In January Hartsfield and The Matabeleland Rugby Football Board host the Zimbo Under-20 trophy. This attracts players from 15 to 19 years and brings together four of Zimbabwe’s best Under-20 teams to compete for bragging rights. Matabeleland Busters are the current champions. This year’s other participating teams are Panthers, Old Miltonians and Bulldogs and players will come from all over the country to compete,” Robinson said.

On January 10, Busters will play Panthers while Old Miltonians clash with Bullldogs.

January 17 will see Old Miltonians taking on Panthers and Busters playing Bulldogs before the finals and the third-place play off to take place on January 24.

The next tournament on the MRFB calendar will be the Zimbo Under-21 Cup which starts on January 31 and ends on February 21 featuring the four teams played in the same format.

The Matabeleland/Midlands Rugby League featuring Busters, Bulldogs, Old Miltonians, Panthers, Gweru Sports Club, Platinum, Masvingo Titans, Airforce and the Midlands State University, is scheduled to start on February 28.

The league is played in Bulawayo, Zvishavane and Gweru.
