This came to light when Prince Kamoto (34) and his brother Samuel (31) appeared before the Western Commonage provincial magistrate, Willard Mafios Moyo facing charges of attempted murder, as defined under Section 47 of the Criminal, Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
Prince pleaded not guilty, while Samuel pleaded guilty, with both of them being remanded in custody to January 19 for continuation of trial.
Prince told the court that he only asked why the complainant, Wishes Mpofu attacked his brother three years ago, but the latter became angry and pushed him away.
This then angered Samuel, who was watching from a distance and he intervened, Prince told the court.
“He assaulted me when I asked him why he assaulted my younger brother years ago, that is when my brother stabbed him once with a knife,” Prince said.
In his defence, Samuel said he feared his younger brother was going to be killed and he grabbed the okapi knife from Mpofu and stabbed him with it in the shoulder.

For the State, Mufaro Mageza told the court that on January 1, the three were drinking at the same bar in Umguza village at around 12 midnight, when Prince stood up and advanced to where Mpofu was and questioned him why he assaulted his younger brother in 2011.
Mpofu said he was amazed why anyone would ask something which happened ages ago.
