MIGHTY Warrior’s senior women’s team is ready for the invitational four-nation tournament to be played in Botswana from January 30 to February 1.

GRACE CHIRANGANDE SPORTS REPORTER The team will compete against Botswana while two other countries were set to be confirmed late yesterday.

Zimbabwe will use the competition as a test for the upcoming national assignments.

Women’s football board member Cecilia Gambe yesterday confirmed the trip to the neighbouring country.

“The girls are now in camp,” she said.

“We are now waiting for Botswana to confirm to us which other countries will be joining us in the tournament because today was the final day for confirmation.”

Gambe said the team was ready and they had been working hard in preparation for the tournament.

“I believe the girls will try by all means to win the matches,” she said.

“We are prepared for the friendly tournament which we will use to observe our weaknesses and assess the players so that when we play against Ghana we will be fully prepared.

“We want to asses our level of fitness. Botswana will be using the tournament to evaluate their players for the All-Africa Games and Olympic Games qualifiers.”

Teams are expected to arrive in Gaborone from next Wednesday.

Gambe said they would have trimmed the initial 25 players to 18 by late yesterday.

The Mighty Warriors last assignment was 0-0 against Banyana Banyana in an international friendly at Rufaro Stadium.
