THE MDC Matabeleland South province yesterday dismissed media reports that it was mooting plans to recall the party’s national secretary-general Prisilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga from Parliament, since she represents the province yet she was not resident.

On Monday it was reported that Matabeleland South MDC structures were mulling a provincial council meeting to consider Misihairabwi-Mushonga’s recall.
The MDC secretary-general represents the province as women’s quota representative.
In a statement, the MDC Matabeleland South information department, said the reports were unfounded.
“The MDC Matabeleland South province hereby advises members of the MDC family and the general public that there is absolutely no truth in the suggestion made in an article which appeared in the Chronicle and Herald, alleging that we as the MDC Matabeleland South province are mulling a provincial council meeting to consider the recall of the MDC secretary general and Matabeleland South party women’s quota representative in the National Assembly,” the statement reads.
“We place it on record that such a suggestion had not been mooted by the MDC Matabeleland South province or any of its leaders.”
Speculation had been rife since 2013 that Misihairabwi-Mushonga would be recalled, despite the party’s strong denials. Rumours have continued being a monkey on the party’s back.
