Goddard was admitted at Mpilo Central Hospital on that day with a swollen head and face and was discharged on January 18 after going through a CT scan the previous day.

Chicken Inn spokesperson Tavengwa Hara yesterday confirmed that the tough-tackling midfielder was not in danger and has been released from hospital.

“The doctors just took a precaution and he had a scan (CT scan) two days after the collision at Lancet House,” he said.

“He was cleared and is out of danger. Last Friday he was at training, but he did not train. He will probably start training with the rest of the guys next week.”

According to medicinenet.com, CT scan or “computerised (or computed) tomography and often formerly referred to as computerised axial tomography (CAT) scan, is an X-ray procedure that combines many X-ray images with the aid of a computer to generate cross-sectional views and, if needed, three-dimensional images of the internal organs and structures of the body”.

Computerised tomography is more commonly known by its abbreviated names, CT scan or CAT scan. A CT scan is used to define normal and abnormal structures in the body and/or assist in procedures by helping to accurately guide the placement of instruments or treatments.

Goddard spent the 2014 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season on the sidelines with a nagging knee injury. He only played one game for Chicken Inn, the last for his side which they lost 0-1 to Harare City in the capital.

“He had a knee injury from last year, but he was now 100% fit,” Hara said.

“We are glad that the doctors ruled him out of danger.”
