HWANGE midfielder Nkosana “Santsho” Siwela has decided to stay put at the coal miners after holding positive discussions with management about his welfare as a player.

HWANGE midfielder Nkosana “Santsho” Siwela has decided to stay put at the coal miners after holding positive discussions with management about his welfare as a player.

FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER The 2011 Castle Lager soccer star of the year finalist told this paper about a fortnight ago that he intended to leave Chipangano, but had a change of heart and is training at the club in preparation for the upcoming season.

“I want to leave Hwange.because I have stayed for too long and I now want to move. I have enjoyed my stay, but it is time for me to leave. I am going to ask for my clearance tomorrow,” Siwela said about two weeks ago.

However, yesterday the 30-year-old dreadlocked midfielder said he was staying on for the rest of the season as his contract expires on December 31.

“I talked with management and was convinced to stay on. Initially I had decided to quit and join another club because I have stayed for too long here and there should be life after Hwange. One of the reasons I had decided to part ways with the club was because we were never paid for the whole season last year. It’s not easy because we have families to look after,” Siwela said.

He played only five matches last season due to a nagging knee injury, but says he has fully recovered and is raring to go on. He sustained the injury in November 2013 at home against Motor Action.

“I played five matches last year. Since then, I’m fully recovered and fit,” he said.

There were rumours that Siwela was on his way to Bulawayo to join newly-promoted Zifa Southern Region Division One side BCC Golden Stars, but the player said it is mere speculation.

At 30, Siwela says he is not finished yet.

“All that is mere speculation; I had not made up my mind. I am still fit and I believe I still have many more years to play,” he added.
