THE Bulawayo Motoring Club (BMC) will hold a different sound off show than the usual which will encompass the Bulawayo Social BMW and Toyota clubs at the Victoria falls Circuit on March 1.

BMC vice-president Zane Shah said, the sound off will have Bulawayo BMW and Toyota Clubs in full force, making it one of the biggest sound–offs in many years.
“We have incorporated and invited the Bulawayo Social BMW and Toyota clubs to attend which will bring additional 30 odd cars to join our event, but they will be competing against the two clubs in sound and a mini car show of the BMW and Toyota clubs,” Shah said.
In a sound–off, a specific test tone track is played when the competition starts while a decibel meter is placed on the inside of the windscreen, doors and the windows closed.
The meter then reads the decibel levels as the track is played for 35 secs. The winner is determined by the highest reading shown by the meter.
Shah said the sound competition would have six categories depending on size or the number of sub woofer.
“We have categories or classes to which one may enter being the size or number of sub woofers in the car. Be it 8’, 10’, single 12’, double 12’, 15’ and open classes,” he said.

He added that every competitor will have two runs during the day and winners of each category will receive personalised trophies.
“When it’s over the highest to lowest readings are compiled for each class and the positions awarded. The first, second and third will have trophies,” Shah said.
