Chicken Inn spokesperson Tavengwa Hara yesterday confirmed the friendly tie and said the GameCocks are ready to kick start the season.

“We are going to Maglas Stadium where we will play Shabanie Mine in a friendly match. We had made other arrangements to play Chapungu in Gweru, but we have opted to go the Zvishavane. Chicken Inn are now ready to unleash their full squad for the season,” Hara said.

Chicken Inn start the league with a home match against new boys Flame Lily, promoted from the Zifa Northern Region Division One before hitting the road to the capital for Harare City and returning home to host other top league debutants Tsholotsho FC.

Coach Joey Antipas has brought on board former FC Platinum striker Mitchelle Katsvairo, last year’s Zifa Southern Region Division One top goalscorer with Tsholotsho FC, Edmore Chirambadare, Bantu Rovers midfielder Tafadzwa Kutinyu and Chiredzi FC’s David Temwanjira to bolster his squad for 2015.

The GameCocks have played Hwange at the Colliery and in Bulawayo as part of pre-season preparations.

They retained Warriors midfielder Danny “Deco” Phiri, Mkhokheli Dube, Clemence Matawu, Thabani Goredema, Ishamel Lawe and the promising Devine Lunga, who was promoted from the juniors last year.

With trusted goalkeepers Elvis Chipezeze and Pride Zendera, Chicken Inn promoted another shotstopper from the juniors, Wandile Ndlovu, who comes on board with other juniors Thulani Nxusani, Musa Phiri, Tambudzai Ngulube and Brighton Manhire.

They also retained Canaan Nkomo, Brian Mbiriri, Bhekimpilo “Barca” Ncube, Moses Jackson, Brian Juru, Thomas Chimenya, Passmore Bernard, Ben Nyahunzvi, Toto Banda, Lawrence Mhlanga and George Majika.

Last year, Chicken Inn ended the season on position six with 44 points, behind champions Dynamos, ZPC Kariba, Caps United, FC Platinum and Highlanders, thereby qualifying for this season’s One Wallet top-eight cup.
