At district and provincial levels, Nestlé Zimbabwe sponsors floating trophies; gold, silver and bronze medals, certificates and books for all participants.

Nestlé Zimbabwe cluster manager Ben Ndiaye said to help tackle childhood malnutrition and obesity, they had partnered with Naph.

“Four years ago our company partnered with Naph in sponsoring the Healthy Kids Athletics and Physical Education in primary schools. During this period Nestlé has helped revive physical education in primary school extra-curricular activities,” Ndiaye said.

Ndiaye added that in the spirit of creating shared values, Nestlé Zimbabwe supported both athletics and physical education competitions for teams drawn from various provinces.

Milton sprinter Nhlanhla Ndlovu from Bulawayo Central was the star attraction in the boys’ Under-14 category. He hauled two individual gold medals in the 100m and 80m hurdles races. He also helped the team to a 4x100m bronze medal by running the second leg.

Mzilikazi’s Thabiso Nyathi was on fire in the boys’ Under-12. He finished first and second in the 200m and 100m races respectively.

Zero Supplies managing director Clemence Kunzekweguta said he has a soft heart for athletics and his support to Naph emanates from his teaching background.

“When I got into business I thought I could complement Naph efforts in running athletics to identify young talent. We took it upon ourselves as an organisation to help in nurturing this talent that we have at primary level,” Kunzekweguta said.

“We are excited with our contribution. We might take it as a social corporate responsibility on our part, but the impact this support has on children is tremendous.”
