Jazmee targets independence bash

South African music stable Kalawa Jazmee Records kwaito musician Delaney “Diliza” Dondo will invade the City of Kings for Independence Day celebrations at an event dubbed Zimbabwe 35th Birthday Party to be held at a local pub and restaurant on April 18.

Kwabatsha Dance group company director and co-founder Trust, Madolo Gumbo – organiser of the show – confirmed to Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday.

“Independence Day signifies our freedom and we opted to bring Diliza to celebrate this day especially so we could cater for the youths. We have noticed the trend for such celebrations are Galas,” Gumbo said.

“We decided to celebrate with Bulawayo in a unique way. It is our duty to give people something to look forward to. We have an exceptional line-up of local artistes Kwabatsha of the Bhatshi fame, Kead Wikead, Black Cee, S’kaiva, Joe tha OG, Lacusto and Queue Bass. The entry fee is very affordable. We promise party lovers fireworks.”

Diliza moved to South Africa in 2009, in the same year he submitted a demo to Kalawa Jazmee Records which was approved. He was signed under the stable.

The Shaker Mntwana hit maker has collaborated with South Africa’s renowned musicians Alaska, Uhuru, Professor, Oskido, Black Motion, Spikiri, Character, UDU, Tzozo and Tira.

Diliza bragged about being born in Bulawayo at last year’s annual Kalawa Jazmee Homecoming party where he was part of line-up of artistes who performed at Queens Sports Ground in front of more than 6 000 revellers. He shared the stage with newly-recruited group Stiff.
