Addressing the athletes and stakeholders at a send-off ceremony held at Northlea High School yesterday, Moyo encouraged the athletes to do well.

“We need athletes to be disciplined and we want them to raise our country flag high, they should go there as ambassadors of the country and National Association of Primary Schools Heads (Naph) and National Association for Secondary School Heads (Nash), we encourage the athletes go for gold and get the gold,” Moyo said.

Head coach for team Zimbabwe Lisimathi Phakamile said the team is ready to go and represent the country.

“We are ready to go and this year we are targeting for at least 18 gold medals or more and we want to win and be at least on position one, we want to do better than previous years,” Phakamile said.

Nash president Cynthia Khumalo also reiterated.

“We are now more than ready to go and the athletes have been training well and this time around we are more organised as the athletes will be leaving early and the buses are already there unlike last year when we went to Botswana we arrived three hours before the games started,” she said.

Khumalo applauded the community of Bulawayo for the continued support. Team Zimbabwe will be leaving this morning and they will be meeting the other team mates who are in Mauritius in Johannesburg on their way to Lesotho.
