And the self-proclaimed doctor of Zimbabwe football stuck true to his words that Triangle have not lost at home because they have not played against How Mine when the Bulawayo side handed the Sugar Sugar Boys their first defeat of the season at home in a Castle Premiership football match at Gibbo yesterday.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of Masomere’s wife who passed away in Sudan on Saturday.

It was the Lowveld side’s second loss in as many weeks after they suffered a 3-2 defeat against FC Platinum last weekend at Mandava. How Mine scored through a Tapiwa Khumbuyani header in the 12th minute before Limited Chikafa came back to hunt his former team with a 19th minute header.

Triangle responded through Chastern Ndongonda in the 64th minute to ensure a tense finish to the match.

How Mine assistant coach Johannes Nhumwa said he was excited with his side’s win.

“We played well and we carried the mentality of winning from the Dynamos match despite that our head coach Masomere lost his wife who collapsed at the airport in Sudan yesterday (Saturday),’’ he said.

Triangle coach Kelvin Kaindu, however, blamed the loss on a changed line up saying that they should bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

“We had quite a number of changes on the back line and midfield. We failed to capitalise on chances that came our way.

We failed at the defence especially on set-pieces which resulted in us losing the match,” Kaindu said.

Triangle conceded all their goals from set pieces and Khumbuyani and Chikafa took advantage of Triangle defence loose marking.

It was, however, How Mine who survived a late onslaught by Triangle who camped in the opposition box for the later part of the match, especially after Ndongonda had reduced the arrears in the 64th minute.
