Mlotshwa released the album titled Mtanami Lo at her Maphisa home on Saturday.

“I always had a passion for singing dating 13 years back,” she said.

“Jeys encouraged me to record. Some of the songs touch on social issues and encourage youths to be wary of diseases. Youths should not be involved in many relationships.”

The album features Marabini and Ndatshi Mkhize.

Clad in a black dress, orange jacket and a mask, the controversial legislator took to the stage escorted by dance group Kaisa theatre. Mlotshwa performed a song dubbed Mntanami Lo dedicated to her daughter, Nonhlanhla, and got the crowd on their feet with a song in praise of Highlanders football club.

However, during her performance, Mlosthwa seemed to forget some of the lyrics an indication that she is still to grasp the trade and Jeys had to continuously remind her.

Khupe said she was surprised to learn that Mlotshwa was a musician.

‘’I did not know that she (Mlothswa) was a musician. Her songs are very informative and we hope that the youths will take heed. I congratulate her for her achievement,” Khupe said.

“Some people say life starts at 40, I say it starts at 50. I came to support Mlotshwa at this important time of her life. “I turned 50 in 2013 and I believe she deserves such a beautiful party.”

Mlotshwa has on numerous occasions courted controversy with her comments, at one point suggesting that people should have sex once a month and that men must be injected with drugs that reduce their libido to curb the spread of the HIV virus.

She called for prisoners to be given sex toys to quench their sexual appetites.
