LUKE Masomere’s decision to bring in Charles Sibanda in the second half paid off as he assisted in creating two goals they needed to win their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter against ZPC Kariba at Luveve Stadium.

How Mine are now fourth on the log with 21 points while ZPC Kariba are 10th with 14 points.
A minute of silence was observed before the start of the match for coach Masomere who lost his wife recently.
ZPC Kariba were the first to score through Dennis Dauda in the 26th minute after a bit of confusion within the box. Raphael Manuvire had been fouled just outside the box and referee Hardly Ndazi awarded ZPC Kariba a freekick. After taking care of the wall the referee moved back to allow play to continue, but before he could blow the whistle Dauda took the kick.

While the ball was mid-air Ndazi blew his whistle and all the players stopped to get instruction in from the referee including Munyaradzi Diya in goal for How Mine, but he shocked all and sundry when he indicated that it was a goal. How Mine got their goals in the second half after Masomere pulled out Nefitary Ndale and replaced him with Sibanda.
Sibanda created the penalty that they were awarded in the 55th minute and Menard Mupera scored while the second was a shot from Wonder Sithole in the 61st minute.
“It’s really a good thing to win and it’s also good to have consistency in terms of getting the positive results although we had a very bad first half. There was a bit of complacency in the first half. Sensing danger, we lifted our game and managed two goals and with a bit of luck we could have scored more goals,” said Masomere after the match.
ZPC Kariba coach Oliver Matava said: “I think the better side of the day won the game. We played very well and we went to the break leading, but unfortunately we failed to keep the lead. We created a lot of chances, but we failed to convert. We could have won the game in the first half. We are going to regroup and bounce back.
Today (yesterday) we played one of our best games. We played very well, the results will come,” he said.
