Dube was sworn in as MP on Wednesday after winning the Makokoba seat in last week’s by-election after garnering 1 667 votes beating Sibangilizwe Msipa of Transform Zimbabwe who got 265 votes and five other candidates.

Dube’s spokesperson, Notiwani Dlodlo said victory celebrations would be held at Stanley Square, Makokoba, on June 27.

“The honourable Dube will be having a thank you victory celebration on June 27 at Stanley Square.

“It will be an opportunity to applaud all of Makokoba and not only those who voted for him.

“He is now MP for the whole constituency,” he said. “The celebrations are open to all people including opposition members. Ten beasts will be slaughtered.”

Dlodlo said Dube’s priorities as MP included the provision of decent housing and road maintenance.

On the eve of last week’s by-elections in Bulawayo, Dube invited Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa to officiate at a handover ceremony of a Highlanders Football Club bus in what was largely seen as a vote-buying gimmick.
