Addressing journalist at a Press conference in Bulawayo yesterday executive board chairman of the association Enock Zitha said they were ready for the day and he urged people to come in their numbers despite their designations.

“We are asking people to come in their numbers regardless of their designations as we all know that Mzilikazi was a peace loving king who ruled over many tribes and managed to keep them intact through his good governance,” he said.

Zitha said Mzilikazi was a good friend to Robert Moffatt meaning that he understood the importance of Christianity which he embraced in his life; hence Christians were invited to the celebrations because over the years they had shunned the event.

“We are calling upon Christians to also join in these celebrations because Mzilikazi lived with Christians and he treated them well so we expect Christians to also join us.” he said.

He added that the event was not a Khumalo thing, but was for everyone who lived in Mthwakazi area and those who had gone beyond the area.

“Over the years there have been misconceptions about this event that it is a Khumalo thing, it’s not true and we are saying every child of Mzilikazi kingdom has the right to be part and parcel of this prestigious event,” he added.

The event is expected to be graced by visitors from South Africa, among other areas. Chief Maduna was the guest of honour at the event last year and he is expected to do the same this year.
