MASVINGO Provincial Affairs minister Shuvai Mhofa reportedly stumbled and fell at the launch of a Village ZimAsset programme organised by Chivi Rural District Council chairman killer Zivhu at the weekend.

A Zanu PF official, who witnessed the incident, said Mahofa stumbled and fell as she walked out of Zivhu’s house towards hundreds of party supporters and villagers gathered for the function.
“She fell while on her way from Zivhu’s house to the gathering,” the official said.
“The minister then proceeded to address the villager.”
Mahofa’s phone went unanswered yesterday, while Zivhu professed ignorance on the issue.
“Why are you calling me if you know what happened? I don’t know anything about it,” Zivhu thundered.

A close ally of First Lady Grace Mugabe, Mahofa was elevated to the post in February to replace axed Provincial Affairs minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, who was kicked out of both Zanu PF and government on allegations of being linked to former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s camp.
Mahofa was recently in the news when she ordered that her government offices at Benjamin Burombo House be moved from the second to the ground floor, arguing that she could not climb the stairs owing to ill health and old age.
Recently, Mahofa said at 74, she was very old and could no longer stand without support, but she had President Robert Mugabe’s backing.
