Ndlovu initially had an asthma attack and then suffered a stroke on Saturday evening, before he was admitted at the health facility on Sunday.

His brother, Simangaliso, told Southern Eye that the former minister was still in a critical but stable condition.

“His condition today (Wednesday afternoon) is slightly better than when he was admitted on Sunday,” Simangaliso said.

“Doctors are still carrying out tests in line with his earlier condition.

“As a family we only hope for the best. We have not been told of when he is likely to be discharged.”

He said several Zanu PF provincial members had visited him at his hospital bed. Ndlovu, a keen Highlanders Football Club supporter, last made a public appearance at the team’s league match against Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on August 30.

He is also a renowned educationist and founder of the Zimbabwe Distance Education Colleges (Zdeco).
