But he soon realised how difficult and tough life is in the Premier League after his side fell 1-0 to Harare City in his first attempt at that challenge at Rufaro on Saturday.

Talent Chawapiwa blasted home the only goal of the match three minutes into the game to give Soma Phiri a debut not to forget.

Clad in an oversized Highlanders branded suit, Soma Phiri however, remained adamant, saying he is the right man to take the club forward. fc

Harare City on the other hand were naturally happy to collect maximum points against Bosso, especially after the two teams’ reverse fixture ended in controvery when the Taurai Mangwiro-coached side complained they were hard-done by the referee.

The home side made the best possible start to the match when a corner kick by William Manondom was not dealt with well and Chawapiwa capitalised by blasting the ball home inside the crowded box.

It almost got better for City 10 minutes later when the two combined again, this time the lively Chawapiwa providing a pin point cross which Manondo somehow side-footed over the bar.

Highlanders were struggling to get their rhythm, and their first chance of note arrived well after over half an hour when young King nadolo created pockets of space for himself before curling the ball which, however, went wide. it proved the last chance of the half from both sides.

Highlanders started the second half well but despite controlling possession early on, they never really troubled City goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube.

Soma Phiri’s side was presented with a golden opportunity to equalise in the 75th minute when they were awarded an indirect freekick inside City’s penalty box after Dube had delayed to release the ball, but Obadiah tarumbwa wasted the chance, scooping his effort over.
