Hwange broke the deadlock through Boriwondo, who slid the ball into the corner past Roy Mazingi after his team had benefitted from a free kick.
Chapungu’s Tineyi Chitora, Nhlanhla Ncube and Allen Tavarwisa combined well in the 20th minute and the air force side almost surged ahead, but the chance was wasted in one of their best openings of the match.
Chapungu coach Nyikadzino praised referee Ali Bwanali for his professional conduct in handling the match before blaming his boys for losing concentration towards the end.
“We played well for the most part of the game, we had a greater advantage over Hwange, however, the boys made a blunder giving away the free kick that saw us conceding a goal. I must acknowledge the good job done by the referee in his handling of this match,” he said.
