PDP Bulawayo Provincial spokesperson Fortune Mlalazi told Southern Eye yesterday that each time Grace addresses a public gathering, she makes “uncalculated and scary statements”, which instil a sense of insecurity among potential investors. He said Grace’s political intolerance, if left unchallenged, could further plunge the economy into a bottomless cesspit.

“Grace’s statements are a reminiscent of her husband President Robert Mugabe’s calls for a one-party State in the early days of our independence, which were followed by an ethnic butchering of over 20 000 people,” Mlalazi said.

“As PDP we condemn the diaper political grandstanding exhibited by the disgraced Grace, whose rise scares away the much-needed investors. We feel pity for Patrick Chinamasa (Finance minister), whose efforts towards reengaging the Bretton Woods institutions will go down to waste. It’s time for the people of Zimbabwe to smell the coffee.”

Last week, Grace stirred a hornet’s nest among opposition parties when she declared that Mashonaland Central Province was a Zanu PF enclave where no opposition politics should be tolerated.

Mugabe and Zanu PF have defended Grace’s addresses.
