Makhosi Ncube, skipper Xolisani Ncube and Eddie Nkulungo were on target for the local authority side, which finished the season on 71 points with 22 wins, five draws and only three defeats, as they prepare for the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Bulawayo City were officially crowned champions on Saturday after the Indlovu Iyanyathela match, with city councillors and a considerable number of fans joining in the celebrations.

But it is not going to be easy in the Premiership for Bulawayo City and chairman, Jerry Sibanda on Saturday said 30% of the players that took them to the PSL would remain in the team, while the club could be making an addition of seven players to bolster the squad next year.

“A third of them (the players) are going there (PSL). They are youngsters and they want to shine. We are taking them there. Maybe I will add six or seven players, but the players are here. There are youngsters that I believe will carry the flag for the city,” he said.

Some of the youngsters that donned the City colours in Division One include goalkeeper Archiford Katsande, Trevor Ndlovu, Warren Dube, Terrence Majo, Bothwell Nyathi and Humphrey Ncube.

Lewis “Rambo” Ncube and Arnold Ndiweni are on loan from Highlanders.

Bulawayo City have already signed former Chicken Inn forward, Mkhokheli Dube and have experienced players in former Bosso captain, Innocent Mapuranga, Zibusisio Sibanda, Xolisani, Makhosi, Nkulungo and goalkeeper, Ndodana Sibanda.

Also, part of the squad is Welcome Ndiweni and Bruce Tshuma.

They have an experienced coach in Philani “Beefy” Ncube, the 2008 Coach of the Year with Njube Sundowns, who has also coached Chicken Inn and How Mine in the top-flight league.

Old Nic Mine, who struggled to fulfill their fixtures, and Mpumalanga have been relegated from the Southern Region Soccer League after finishing the season on nine and 15 points, respectively.
