The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 12 months in jail. Five months of the sentence were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour. Another seven months were suspended on condition he performed seven weeks of community service.

The court heard that on October 19 this year at 10.30pm, Mthokozisi Dube, based at Ntabazinduna Police Camp, was making a follow up in a case where Ndlovu, Cabangani Mathe, and Letshani Dube were suspected of having assaulted another villager.

When Dube approached Ndlovu, the accused became violent and bit him on the chest and left hand, while refusing to be handcuffed. Dube sustained injuries on the hand and chest, as a result. Ndlovu was later arrested.
