THE Welshman Ncube-led MDC has urged Zanu PF to end its internal fights saying they are stifling government operations and thwarting efforts to revive the struggling economy.

Matabeleland South MDC chairperson Pilate Ndebele said it was sad to see Zanu PF leaders fighting and purging each other with little regard for the economy.
“They spend a lot of time fighting as Gamatox, Weevils, G40 and so on which does not help the people. People do not benefit from those fights. People want a government that will solve their problems,” he said.
Ndebele said during a recent MDC meeting in Plumtree elderly people were concerned that constitutional provisions stipulating that the aged should be assisted by the government were being ignored.
“The elderly struggle to get to health institutions when they fall ill because they have no money,” he said. “Although the elderly are treated for free at hospitals, on many occasions they fail to access medication and drugs.”
The Constitution stipulates that the elderly should receive government support either financially or materially.

“The constitutional clause was put by the people, but the government seems to be reluctant to implement most of the clauses,” Ndebele said.
“This is because the Zanu PF government does not want to introduce provincial councils. Zanu PF is sitting on progressive policies. People voted for the Constitution hoping that, when implemented, they would lead better lives, but all that has remained a pipe dream.”
Zanu PF has been accused of not implementing key provisions of the Constitution, particularly devolution.
The Progressive Democratic Party has threatened to take the fight to President Robert Mugabe and his party over devolution.
