Pation Luke Nyamaropa (26) of Makokoba was convicted on his own plea of guilty to culpable homicide and operating an unregistered public service vehicle when he appeared before Lupane magistrate Ndumo Masuku last Thursday.

He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentence.

In his plea, Nyamaropa said he hit a pothole and lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and rolled several times, killing Jethro Moyo and Patrick Nkomo on the spot, while Gift Mugwagwa died on admission to Mpilo Hospital. Twelve other passengers sustained injuries.

The fatal accident occurred at the 43km peg on June 5, 2015, as Nyamaropa was driving towards Bulawayo.

The State, in its submission, accused Nyamaropa of speeding.
