ZIMBABWE golf star Scott Vincent secured his second Japan Golf Tour win in three starts with a comfortable three-stroke victory at the ANA Open at the Sapporo Golf Club in Japan’s northern Island of Hokkaido yesterday.
Starting the final round three shots behind Japanese rising star Tomoharu Otsuki, the gifted Zimbabwean who is affectionately known as Mhondoro, produced a clinical performance to shoot six-under 66 and win by three shots on a good total of 18-under par 270.
With the win Vincent claimed the winner’s cheque of just over US$ 181 000 (20,000,000 Japanese Yen).
Vincent’s latest victory came barely three weeks after he claimed his breakthrough triumph at the Sansan KBC Augusta on August 29.
The debut win meant he became the first Zimbabwean to win on the Japan Golf Tour since former world number one Nick Price’s victory at the Suntory Open in 1999.
But while his maiden win was nervy as he was pushed all the way despite leading from start to finish on his way to a one shot victory, this week’s triumph was much more clinical as he could even afford a bogey on the last hole but still win by three strokes.

The 29 year-old Zimbabwean Olympian, who had stormed into contention with a magical round of 63 on Friday before a solid 69 on Saturday, went into the final round trailing Otsuki by three shots and knew he had some work to do if he was to pull off another win.
He was three under through the first six holes to storm into the lead before a brilliant eagle on the ninth took him further clear of the rest of the field which found the going tough due to the strong winds.
A further two birdies on the back nine cemented his lead enroute to his second victory the season, which will certainly push him closer towards a place inside the top 100 on the official world golf ranking.
Overnight leader Otsuki settled for second place on 15-under par after his closing 72 while another Japanese player Ryosuke Kinoshita was tied for third place with his compatriot Miraimu Horikawa on 14-under par.
