BRIGHTON Makopa became the first player to score four goals in one game this season, as Chicken Inn staged a dramatic comeback to outwit Kwekwe United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Bata Stadium yesterday.
Makopa scored four quick-fire goals for the Gamecocks in the second half, as he inspired their much-needed win. Farai Mutatu and Mbongeni Minezhi scored Kwekwe United's goals.
Kwekwe United surged ahead early in the first half via Mutatu's audacious shot from an acute angle to beat the diving Donovan Bernard in goals for the visitors.
The hosts doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time through a penalty that was converted by Minezhi. His initial effort was saved by Bernard, but he was too quick to react on the rebound.
The Kwekwe-based side crumbled like a deck of cards in the second half, with Makopa putting up a masterclass to give the Gamecocks their second win of the season.
George Majika assisted three goals. The win brought relief for coach Joey Antipas, whose job was on the line heading into yesterday’s tie.

"I'm a happy man, we managed to get a win from the jaws of defeat. A win is always a boost when you are going through a tough run. Today’s [Yesterday’s] win was a big statement for us.
"One thing from here is that we have to fight hard to keep this run. Now, we can start with high hopes ahead of the next match against Green Fuel," Antipas said.
Kwekwe United stand-in coach Beknown Mhlaingena was disappointed with how his team applied themselves in the second half.
"I am disappointed with this, especially that we were leading comfortably. I told them that we have to keep fighting in the second half.
"But they just went flat in everything. We could have won this match, but, unfortunately, we failed to get the results we badly needed," he said.
