STAR FM DJ Munyaradzi Milimo, who was on Wednesday remanded to a further two-week incarceration period over the alleged murder of Tinashe Magorimbo, is now seeking freedom through the Attorney-General (AG)’s Office, it has emerged.

REPORT BY SENIOR COURT REPORTER

DJ Munya’s lawyer Lucky Mawuwa yesterday told NewsDay he was negotiating with the AG’s office for a possible consent order to allow him to be remanded out of custody pending indictment at the High Court.

“We are negotiating with the AG’s Office for our client’s bail given that the two-week period requested by the police to complete investigations is over. We might get a consent order today (yesterday), but if it fails by end of day tomorrow (today), we will have filed an application for bail at the High Court,” Mawuwa said.

The latest development was also confirmed by Reason Muchirewesi who is representing DJ Munya’s co-accused Muhammad Matare.

DJ Munya, as he is popularly known by his radio fans, was last month thrown behind bars by a Harare magistrate after the State opposed bail.

He is charged alongside Matare and Taurai Jani, whom he allegedly hired to kidnap and murder Magorimbo.
